The organizers of the PGL Masters Bucharest have officially confirmed the list of 12 teams that have received direct invitations to the tournament. The competition will take place from October 24 to 31 in Bucharest, Romania, and will be one of the last major events before the participants in the PGL Singapore Major are determined. Importantly, the tournament will conclude just a few days before the deadline for determining invitations based on the VRS ranking, which is scheduled for November 2.
The Falcons were the only team among the top squads in the VRS rankings as of July 6 that decided not to participate in the championship. As a result, the final open spot went to The MongolZ, who were ranked 13th in the world at the time.
As a result, PGL Masters Bucharest will feature one of the strongest lineups of the season. Giants such as Spirit, Vitality, Natus Vincere, FURIA, G2, and a number of other leading teams will compete for a prize pool of $1.25 million.
Aurora is drawing particular attention as they arrive in Bucharest as the defending champions. At the same time, the team will take the stage with a revamped international roster following roster changes made during the offseason and will attempt to win the title for the second time in a row.
Who else will join the PGL Masters Bucharest participants
BB and 9z were also among the teams that received direct invites. Both teams earned their spots thanks to their strong performances at IEM Cologne, where they advanced to the quarterfinals.
Meanwhile, Legacy—last year’s PGL Masters Bucharest finalist—will return to the tournament. This time, the team will compete with a revamped roster: try will replace saadzin, and with these changes, the team will aim to improve on its previous result and compete for the title.
The final list of participants will be determined after the regional qualifiers conclude. Four more spots will be up for grabs by the winners of the qualifiers in Europe, Asia, and the America, which are scheduled for the second week of September.
The tournament itself will use the Swiss system during the group stage. Based on the results, the top eight teams will advance to the single-elimination playoffs, and the champion will be determined in a best-of-five grand final.
