Envy is preparing to make its mark once again on the professional Counter-Strike scene. The North American organization, which first gained popularity in Call of Duty, may sign the current 3DMAX roster.
According to Sheep Esports, citing the French publication lasourcegg, negotiations regarding the 3DMAX roster’s transfer are nearing completion, and the team may continue competing under the Envy banner. The organization made its debut in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive in 2015 and was one of the most prominent teams on the French scene for several years. Envy has featured well-known French players, and the team has also managed to win a Major.
For 3DMAX, this transition marks a new chapter following a challenging period in the organization’s history. In recent months, the French club has been at the center of a scandal due to reports of delays in salary payments, prize money, and revenue from in-game stickers. Envy Returns to CS with a French Roster
For 3DMAX, the 2026 season has been significantly more challenging than previous ones. The team failed to qualify for the Major in Cologne, which took place in July, even though it had previously qualified for the year’s main tournament three times in a row. In each of those three instances, the French team finished in 12th–14th place, failing to reach the playoffs.
Against the backdrop of the club’s financial problems, the 2026 results only exacerbated the situation. Delays in payments reportedly began even before the start of the current season and ultimately became one of 3DMAX’s key problems.
Other organizations had previously expressed interest in the roster. In particular, Team Heretics was named among the potential buyers, as they were willing to consider a partial repayment of 3DMAX’s debts. However, according to journalists at Sheep Esports, it was ultimately Envy that managed to reach an agreement with the French roster.
That said, the North American club will likely not assume 3DMAX’s financial obligations. As Sheep Esports journalists discovered, the deal involves the acquisition of five players along with their VRS points, while the debts accumulated by the French organization will remain outside the scope of the agreement.
Thus, Envy is preparing to resume its presence in Counter-Strike after a long hiatus. The organization competed in the discipline from 2015 to 2021 and may now return in the CS2 era. Symbolically, the new roster will also be entirely French—just as Envy’s team was at the start of its Counter-Strike history.
