The organizers of the Thunderpick World Championship have announced the full roster of participants for the upcoming CS2 tournament. It will take place October 14–18 in Malta, where eight teams will compete for a $1 million prize pool.
The competition will be hosted by BLAST Arena. For participants, the tournament will have another important aspect—the opportunity to earn additional Valve ranking points ahead of the conclusion of the invitation qualification period for the Singapore Major, which begins on November 2.
Among the invited teams are two squads from the world’s top 5—Falcons and FURIA. Two other spots near the top of the list are held by Legacy, which recently won FISSURE Playground 3, and Aurora, which ranks among the top ten teams. In addition to them, South American team 9z will also compete in the tournament.
Tournament Format
At the start, the teams will be divided into two groups. Each group will use a double-elimination system, so participants will have the opportunity to continue competing after their first loss.
Based on the results of the group stage, the top four teams will advance to the playoffs. The final stage will be held using a single-elimination system.
Almost all matches in the championship will be played in a best-of-3 format. The exception will be the grand final, where the winner will be determined in a best-of-5 series.
