The participants in the PGL Masters Bucharest were determined following the conclusion of regional qualifiers in Europe, South and North America, and Asia. The final four spots in the tournament, which features a $1,250,000 prize pool, went to Nemiga, DENDELE, Liquid, and TYLOO.
In the European qualifiers, Nemiga remained undefeated. The team defeated Inner Circle, SINNERS, 1win, and B8, dropping only one map throughout the entire qualifier. In the grand final, Nemiga faced B8 for the second time and closed out the series with a 3-0 victory.
South American representative DENDELE also advanced through the qualifiers undefeated. On their way to the final, the team defeated Turma do Pagode, Imperial, and Fluxo twice.
For Liquid, the path through the North American qualifiers proved more challenging. The team first defeated Marsborne, then lost to NRG in the upper bracket final and found themselves in the match to determine tournament entry.
There, JT’s squad took down Voca, and in the decisive series against NRG, they came back from a 1-2 deficit. On Mirage, Liquid nearly squandered a 10–2 lead but still managed to secure the map, and then closed out the decisive Inferno.
In Asia, TYLOO secured their spot by confidently defeating DEPO in the grand final. Prior to that, DEPO had knocked FlyQuest out of contention for first place.
PGL Masters Bucharest will take place October 24–31. The tournament will be a crucial step for teams competing for an invitation to the PGL Major Singapore ahead of the VRS invitation deadline on November 2.
