It’s official: JT has become Liquid’s new captain

Liquid has confirmed the signing of Johnny “JT” Theodosiou, who will now serve as captain. The South African esports player, known for his stints with Passion UA, Bravado, Cloud9, and Complexity, has replaced Kamil “siuhy” Shkaredek, who was moved to the bench a few days ago.

This decision came as a result of a disappointing season for Liquid. The team posted one of the weakest offensive performance metrics among top-tier teams, and its results at major tournaments left much to be desired. The team advanced to the BLAST Bounty Season 1 playoffs solely thanks to a successful performance in the online qualifiers, and in the first stage of the IEM Cologne Major, they were eliminated with a final score of 2-3.

JT’s signing marks Liquid’s second roster change this offseason. Earlier, the organization announced the signing of Georgi “Jorko” Mitev, who replaced Roland “ultimate” Tomkovyak in the AWP role. This move also reunited JT with his former Complexity teammate, Jonathan “EliGE” Yablonowski.

During their time together at Complexity, the duo achieved strong results on multiple occasions. Among their major accomplishments are the championship at ESL Challenger Jönköping 2024, silver medals at IEM Sydney 2023, and reaching the semifinals of ESL Pro League Season 19 and the BLAST Premier Fall Final 2023.

JT’s official debut with his new team will take place tomorrow, July 24, during the online stage of BLAST Bounty Season 2. Liquid’s first match will begin at 5:00 p.m., and their opponent will be Vitality. As the tournament’s 30th seed, the team chose the French club on its own, opting out of potential matches against the Falcons and Spirit.

Following the announcement of the transfers, Liquid also confirmed the role assignments for its starting five. JT will be responsible for game management and setting up attacks, while Jorko will serve as the team’s primary sniper.
