Inner Circle won RES Showdown 4 and secured a spot at BLAST Open Porto, which will take place from August 24 to September 6. The tournament, with a prize pool of $1,000,000, will be one of the most important LAN events of the season for the Ukrainian team.
Viktor “onic” Babiy’s team confidently navigated the entire qualifying bracket without dropping a single map to their opponents. On their way to the title, the team defeated GenOne, magic, and Virtus.pro in succession, securing their first invitation to a major international tournament following their performance at PGL Bucharest in April.
This success was a logical continuation of a strong run for Inner Circle. Just a few weeks ago, the team triumphed at Super DraculaN Season 1, earning them valuable VRS points. As a result, the Ukrainian squad climbed to 26th place in the world rankings and significantly improved its chances of receiving direct invitations to upcoming championships.
David “Dawy” Bibik was named the Most Valuable Player of RES Showdown 4. Over the course of six maps, he finished the tournament with an average rating of 1.38. Although he was no longer the team’s main offensive force in the final series, it was his consistent performance throughout the tournament that made a significant contribution to Inner Circle’s overall success.
In total, four teams will qualify for the BLAST Open Porto through regional qualifiers. One spot has already been secured by Inner Circle, while the remaining three spots will be decided in the qualifiers for the Americas and Asia. The rest of the participants will be determined based on the Global VRS ranking as of July 6.
